But regardless of Johnny's factual error sthe man could certainly capture an audience -- especially a captive audience -- with his raw boned persona, down home voice and strong delivery. When Johnny went out prior to the show the man approached him and asked if would look at the poem. Johnny did and wrote the tune and played it for them there. The man was so touched by the song he gave it to Johnny.
